Developmental Programs : Within TOPSGRUP©SM, there are many continuous and time bound developmental programs for all Topsmen™ at every level:

Induction Training: Every newly recruited Topsman©SM has to undergo a minimum 7 days - 27 days induction training program. The USP of this program is that the trainee is trained in an environment akin his/her actual work environment and is trained and counseled by a peer during the training. The training is generally followed by an assessment by the trainer and an examination either at the Regional Office or the Corporate Office.

Peer to Peer Training: TOPSGRUP©SM helps develop the spirit of Togetherness by bonding the new inductees along with senior and respected Topsmen©SM. Besides training, the new inductees are automatically made comfortable in the new environment and this aids them a lot in their developmental years.

On-the-job-training: As per our training procedures, it is mandatory for every direct and indirect member to be continuously trained throughout his/her career for continuous development in weak areas. In the beginning of the year, a training calendar is made at the Corporate Office by the Corporate Manager - HR & Training where courses are run at the Corporate Office, the 6 Regional Offices and the Branch offices too. Every employee desirous of learning new skills ranging from manners & etiquettes to how to work on MS Excel to advanced courses such as preparation of disaster management plans or better report writing techniques, etc are taught in these training programs.

Awards and Rewards: All round the year, there are monthly, quarterly and yearly appreciation programs for our Topsmen™ such as:

Employee of the Month Award has been introduced to recognize and reward an achiever. This award is conferred on the employee who has shown tremendous leadership qualities, excelled in his/her work, achieved the desired results and most importantly, has gone beyond his call of duty to deliver exceptional services to his external or internal customer

Topsman Award is given to an indirect staff member at the regions to promote healthy competition and to provide incentive to improve working amongst the staff and executives. A cash award of Rs. 1,500/- ,a certificate and a badge is presented to the employee every year at the Annual Seminar of the organisation. The recipient of this award proudly displays his Topsman badge for the rest of his tenure in TOPSGRUP©SM.

Topstar Award is given to a direct staff member at the regions for his/her excellent performance of his duties and is introduced to improve the morale and motivation levels amongst the guarding personnel. A Cash prize of Rs. 1,000/-, a certificate and a badge is presented to the direct employee every year at the Annual Seminar. All the Topsman & Topstar are given the honour of having lunch with the Board of Directors at the seminar and are felicitated with love and warmth during the occasion.

Chairman's Award is the highest award in TOPSGRUP©SM and is awarded to the best performing region taking into consideration the growth of the region in terms of sales, profitability, customer retention, innovations, management & leadership quality, etc. We give a fully paid trips to exotic destinations.

Diwan Harichand Nanda Award is the second highest award in TOPSGRUP©SM and is awarded to the best performing branch throughout India. The criteria for selection are business targets achieved, customer retention percentage, branch profitability, adherence to ISO systems, amongst others. We give a fully paid trips to exotic destinations.

Long Service Award is the most prestigious award in TOPSGRUP©SM and is given to employee's who has partnered with the organisation for more than 7 years. This award is a way of thanking the employee of being a very important part of the organisation and supporting the organisation all through out.

Cash Rewards - Rewards in form of cash along with a commendation certificate are given to our deserving and brave direct staff members who have risked their lives for saving someone else's or detected a huge theft. These awards are given in sabha's to the deserving Topsmen™ in the presence of thousands of their colleagues and their names are also printed in the Tops Bulletin.

Continuous Collective Employee Meets: TOPSGRUP©SM is generally a very people's company and thus believes in constant interaction and continuous meets. Meets between the top management and the middle order and lower order team members are organized monthly, quarterly and yearly such as:

Monthly Review Meetings - The Monthly Review Meetings are termed as Management Review Meetings where the performance of each department, division and company is discussed thread-bare. The main objective of the Management Review Meeting is to interactively analyze the last month's performance of the group versus the targets set for the month in question. Gaps if any are eradicated and corrective and preventive measures are undertaken to ensure that all errors and risk factors are mitigated immediately. The meeting is chaired by Dr. Diwan Rahul Nanda and attended by all top-management executives.

Weekly Review Meetings - These meetings take place between the top management and 2nd group levels for discussing micro issues and sorting them out within deadlines. This platform is also used for monitoring the progress of projects, tasks on hands and general discussions on improvements.

Quarterly Regional Review Meetings - The Quarterly Review Meetings are similar to the Management Review Meetings. Throughout the year, three such meetings are undertaken quarterly where even the Regional Directors and Regional Heads are invited for analyzing the quarter performances versus the budgets.

Annual Seminar cum Workshops - The Annual Seminar-cum-Workshop is a platform where all Branch Heads of India, Regional Heads, Regional Directors, Divisional Heads, Corporate Heads, Company Heads and Directors meet each other and discuss the company's performance in the past year versus budgets and set the course for the coming year. During this yearly meeting, strategies to increase our market share, strategies to beat competition, strategies to increase bottom lines, etc are discussed. Post the seminar, all the Topsmen™ are put through various team building workshops and extra curricular activities where focus is given on increasing bonding and team play. The duration of this yearly meeting is generally from 4-5 days.

Bi-annual Regional Sabhas - In every region, Dr. Diwan Rahul Nanda and members of the core group undertake minimum two meetings every year with members of the direct staff members which include security guards, lady searchers, security supervisors and security officers. This interactive meet is a platform where all direct staff members numbering in thousands openly discuss their issues with the core group members without any fear and immediate solutions are given to their feedbacks. Additionally, all new benefits and developments being undertaken by TOPSGRUP©SM for them is discussed threadbare. Each and every direct staff member attending the Sabha is met individually. Deserving employees are also rewarded and appreciated for their acts of bravery carried out during their duties at any particular unit.

Topsday™: The birthday of Tops©SM is celebrated every year with great fanfare and families of our indirect team members are invited on this day. Various entertainment programmes are conducted. The sole objective of this exercise is to help bond the families of the Topsmen™ and make them also feel proud to be a part of our TOPSGRUP©SM family. The last Topsday™ was celebrated on 19th July 2006 at Vie Lounge, Mumbai.

Grievance Cell: Every branch, region and corporate office has a dedicated grievance cell headed by a Grievance officer who is responsible for ensuring that all grievances of our direct staff members i.e. our guards and officers are handled and solved within a maximum time period of 24 hours. This concept offers a comfort zone for our thousands of Topsmen™ as they know that they are looked and cared after.

Big Brother Concept: Every new Topsman™ post completion of the induction training and on successful assessment clearances from superiors and examination clearances, is assigned a Big Brother / Big Sister at the work place. This concept has been introduced to ensure that during the initial settling down stages, the new inductee is directly attached to a senior who not only assists him/her in becoming more comfortable with the new work environment but also helps inculcate the values and thinking of the organisation into their minds. Besides helping in official matters, the Big Brother or Big Sister is also available for any personal assistance.


Career pathing
: TOPSGRUP©SM always believes in doing its business differently from others. Every Topsman™ or Topswoman™ in TOPSGRUP©SM, is not a worker in the company but is a wholesome part of the TOPSGRUP©SM family. TOPSGRUP©SM is well renowned for its recognition of talents and promoting them. Performers are rewarded in TOPSGRUP©SM and examples are set for others to see and learn. In our organisation, we believe, that every one of us is a driver and there is JUST NO SPACE for passengers. It is an old saying within the group that "If you are able to survive the first 6 months in TOPSGRUP©SM, then you will never leave the organisation".

Case studies of senior stalwarts like of our M. Sashidharan, Regional Director - Mumbai & Thane and Mr. R.K.Roy, Regional Director - Maharashtra are prime examples of the growth levels in our organisation. Mr. Sashidharan joined TOPSGRUP©SM 20 years ago as an Area Officer and Mr. Roy 11 years back as a Security Officer, and today they are on the board of directors of Tops©SM. Many of our managers and officers throughout India, have been promoted from our guarding personnel. Another known fact in TOPSGRUP©SM is that when it comes to career growth opportunities, the sky is the limit. No wonder then, that Dr. Diwan Rahul Nanda during all inductions training opening addresses' tells new and ambitious inductees that "if you have courage, guts, the abilities and the ambition to rise and lead TOPSGRUP©SM do not aim for any position lower than the Managing Director's position"

Payment of wages & benefits on time: TOPSGRUP©SM always believes in paying its men on time. Every direct or indirect member of the family across the country, are paid their wages/salaries and benefits by the 07th of every month. Our monthly wages and salaries are to the tune of 5 to 6 Crores and we have made it possible to expend such a huge sum within deadlines by keeping a tight control on our recoveries and collections. At the end of the day, this is another measure to bring a warm smile on the faces of our Topsmen™ & Topswomen™

100% transparency in employee dealings: TOPSGRUP©SM has always believed in being absolutely Transparent and True to its customers and employees alike and that is precisely the reason why, last year in 2003-2003 we had an employee retention of over 91%. We at TOPSGRUP©SM encourage family members to stay and grow in the company. We encourage our direct family members and educate them constantly on the benefits of working beyond 5 years and collecting their gratuity. Another strong point in our dealings with our team members, is that we pay all our thousands of employees across India through Bank Transfers thereby avoiding cash dealings of any kind. Corporate Communication - In any organisation continuous, detailed and transparent communication plays a very vital role in its development and growth. In our organisation owing to the sensitive nature of our business, we believe in documenting and transmitting all MK (Must Know) and SK (Should Know) information regularly to the regions / branches..

Inner Circle - This highly dynamic bulletin board on our website enables the quick and transparent flow of communication across our offices. It is one of our best and widely used tools of communication.

Weekly E-mails and SMS's - In its unending endeavor to delight the customer, TOPSGRUP©SM has introduced the system of sending Security Tips to its existing and prospective customers on a weekly basis, which educates our customers on various aspects of security and how to get better equipped to handle any crisis. Similarly, through Short Messaging Services (SMS), TOPSGRUP©SM remains in constant touch with all the regions & branches and customers alike.

Weekly website updation - The systems department at TOPSGRUP©SM constantly updates its internal as well as external customers the latest information about TOPSGRUP©SM and the industry at large.

Monthly marketing bulletins - Another medium of transmitting information to our internal customers and to keep them abreast with the latest happenings at TOPSGRUP©SM. It also gives information of the performance of each region in that particular month.

Quarterly Tops Bulletin - Tops Bulletins are a means of communication with our guarding personnel. TOPSGRUP©SM believes in its employees' happiness and all information related to the organisation as well as information and decisions directly benefiting the direct team members are communicated through the Tops Bulletin on a quarterly basis.

The Tops Times - The Tops Times is a sleekly designed in-house magazine and is used as an important communication tool to impart specific information about TOPSGRUP©SM to our customers. It talks about Group's activities, its new acquisitions, the various events handles by TOPSGRUP©SM, announcements, etc.
